Death Valley
| If you long for warmer
weather in the winter, it takes 3.0 hours in the Archer
from Petaluma to Death Valley National Monument. In late
January, you will be able to enjoy balmy summer weather.
Once you arrive in the valley, there are several points
of interest if sightseeing is your choice: Scotty's
Castle, 20-Mule Team Canyon, Badwater, Dante's View and
ghost towns. The sand dunes in the park are very
impressive and part of the extraordinary variety of
geology in the park. Furnace Creek Inn offers guided bus
tours. The usual amenities of swimming pool, tennis
courts and golf course are available if you tire of
sightseeing. On the way down to Death Valley in
mid-winter you will be able to enjoy the view of snow
clad mountains. Death Valley National Monument can only be enjoyed in the winter. The summer temperature is a bit extreme. |
