The ancient lavish Holy Roman Catholic Church (HRCC) (glory, status, wealth), which glorifies man, not God. Established by Roman government, after the original Christian church (1st century) dissolved (martyrs, fallout). | The Catholic Church, also known as the Roman Catholic Church, is the world's largest Christian church, claiming more than a billion members.[1] Its leader is the Pope. The Catholic Church is one of the oldest continuous religious institutions in the world and has played a prominent role in the history of Western civilisation.[2] It teaches that it was founded by Jesus Christ, that its bishops are successors of his apostles and that the Pope as the successor of St. Peter possesses a universal primacy. It also claims the power to define its doctrines infallibly through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.[3] The Church teaches that in the Eucharist bread and wine are transubstantiated into the body and blood of Christ. Mat 24:5 KJV - For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. | Luk 21:8 KJV - ...and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. | Mar 13:22 KJV - For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if [it were] possible, even the elect. | Jesus foresaw both the corrupted Christian religion of the last times (Catholic, Mormon, Jehovah Witness, etc), as well as the heathen religions (Buddhism, Muslim, etc). Luk 21:17 KJV - And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake. | True Christianity is always despised and mocked by general society. The keys in above verses are the statements; in my name, false Christs, false prophets, and the term 'many'.

The isolated incidences; Waco, Jim Jones, Heavens Gate, etc, do not imply 'many', but rather only a 'few' odd Christian type cults, with but 'few' members. Strange fact is though, the entire modern Christian movement (huge), is explicitly rooted in the general vision of the HRCC, not in the 1st century church teachings. Hence being corrupted at the root, it also teaches corrupted doctrine | Eph 4:14 KJV - That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; | Obviously the element of corruption in church doctrine was present even in the 1st century church. Therefore no matter the era, scripture study is where bible truth is found, not in the traditional teachings of the many Christian denominations which now abound worldwide.
